seraphic-lotus asked: Hi Shilin, I was wondering if you have any experience with trademarking or copyrighting your artwork in order to protect your pieces from design/art theft and your advice. Did you have to go through some sort of legals process when you published your artbook and manga with your printing company or when selling?

I don’t have any experience with that. negshin, me and a bunch of people were going to createa group and she was going to get a trademark in the uk, she told me that trademarks (tm) are free (aka don’t need registration) and only those with an (r) is a registrered trademark. it’s expensive (for small groups like us), cannot be changed, and is only valid within the country of your registration.

There’s no legal process with my book publishing because they are self published. I mean these companies are only responsible in getting stuff printed for you, and unless you’re CLEARLY printing shady stuff like shit about terrorism or porn, they don’t care where or how you put the content together because they’re not your publisher. you won’t see people making oneshots or fanbooks or doujins having trouble getting their technically copyright-infringing materials printed.
